# Hermes Agent

Check eligible agent-language files before a coding turn finishes. The native plugin uses Hermes Agent's `pre_verify` hook and can request one continuation when the first verification attempt finds a FAIL or input ERROR.

## Setup

Use a plugin-capable Hermes Agent host supporting `pre_verify`. Install LintLang with the Python interpreter used by that host. The released integration guide records this installation:

python -m pip install lintlang==0.7.1
hermes plugins list
```

The package registers a `hermes_agent.plugins` entry point. Installing it into another Python environment will not make the plugin visible to the host. The 0.7.1 example is the recorded integration pin; publication of a newer scanner does not establish a newly tested host/package pair.

## Verify

Confirm plugin discovery with `hermes plugins list`, then use a coding turn that changes an eligible instruction or configuration file. On its first verification attempt, inspect the hook result. An eligible FAIL or ERROR should request one continuation and provide a reproduction command.

To reproduce a reported issue, use its named path:

```bash
lintlang scan AGENTS.md --fail-on fail
```

Replace `AGENTS.md` with the input reported by the plugin.

## What gets checked

The hook checks existing changed files whose names or locations identify instructions, prompts, skills, tools, or agent configuration. Ordinary source files are not all scanned automatically. PASS and REVIEW allow the turn to continue; later verification attempts do not repeatedly hold it open.

If discovery fails, inspect the host's actual Python environment before changing scan rules. To remove the integration, use the host's plugin controls for LintLang or uninstall LintLang from that environment when no longer needed.
